Triangle "Box" Braids

Here are some banded box braids parted into triangle shapes. I was trying something new. I think it turned out cute. I used square shaped beads on the ends. Let me know what you think!

Please don't mind my hand in the way, she wouldn't hold still. But she's only 2, she still has ants in her pants. LOL!

  1. How on earth do you get ur 2yr old to sit still long enuff for you to do those beautiful styles. My Gracie is 2 and can't stand getting her hair combed. I'm not hurting her, she just hates it. So I'm stuck doing quick 3 ponytail styles when I would luv to do some more intricate styles. She's a light sleeper so I'm never able to do it while she sleeps :(

  2. T was like that too. I guess she figured that crying and squirming were not going to get her out of getting her hair done. She finally accepted it. I still try to make it pleasant by talking to her, singing with her, letting her watch tv, play with dolls, etc. We take breaks too. It is really bonding time now and we both enjoy it.

  3. We're still exploring our hair styles too (found you on Babycenter). Do you sit her in a chair or do you sit indian style on the floor or bed?

  4. And how did you keep the square beads on the tips?

  5. @Andrea...She has a kiddie folding chair that I sit her in when I'm sitting on the couch. We use that or I sit on a few pillows and lean against her toddler bed (it's low to the ground) and let her head rest in my lap when she is asleep. It all depends on her though really. I try to keep her as comfy as possible, it definitely cuts down on the tears.

And for the beads, I wrap the end of the hair around the last bead and secure with a rubberband. Hope this helps!

  6. To Gracie's Mom: My 2 yr old sits to get her hair done because she's used to it (in the begining she used to cry--it took time). But she still gets antsy and moves her head around on purpose, lol. My daughter responds well to me kissing her on the cheek, hugging her, and saying "Thank you for letting mommy make your hair look pretty". I give her toys let her watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and maybe a snack. Then I give her a 15 minute break and start back to styling. You just have to find whatever makes your child sit still.
